Ornate Forest Toad (Rhinella ornata) lives in tropical moist lowland forest across Brazil, possibly Argentina. Its conservation status is Least Concern.

Fascinating facts about the Ornate Forest Toad

When the rainforest thins, this toad’s survival hangs in the balance, highlighting how fragile the web of tropical lowland ecosystems truly is.
In the shadows of Brazil’s rivers and intermittent lakes, the toad quietly shares its world with a close cousin, creating hybrid offspring that blur the lines of species definition.
Because its forest home is vanishing, the toad serves as a living alarm clock, reminding us that habitat loss can erase unique lineages before we even fully understand them.
