Leopard Treefrog

Fascinating facts about the Leopard Treefrog

• When you wander the rain-soaked lowlands of Brazil, you might hear a tiny chorus that includes the leopard treefrog, a species that only lives within Brazil’s borders.
• Imagine a creature that can call home to everything from dry forest hills to mist-clad mountain valleys, and even the man-made canals of rural gardens. The leopard treefrog thrives in dry forests, moist lowland and montane forests, fresh-water marshes, intermittent marshes, plantations, and heavily degraded former forests. Such ecological flexibility shows how amphibians can bridge pristine and altered landscapes, blurring the line between wilderness and human-shaped environments.
• In the quiet of a Brazilian pond, the leopard treefrog also inhabits the narrow ditches that line agricultural fields.
