Smooth Toadlet (Uperoleia laevigata) lives in dry sclerophyll forest across south-eastern Queensland to Victoria. Its conservation status is Least Concern.

Fascinating facts about the Smooth Toadlet

At just 35 mm long, the smooth toadlet has a bright red thigh patch that makes it stand out in the undergrowth.
Males can make their deep "arrrrk" call from up to 20 m away from the water’s edge.
After a heavy rain, many smooth toadlets may breed within one to two weeks.
While it shares its range with two close relatives, the smooth toadlet’s belly stays mostly white, sometimes with a few black specks, letting observers tell it apart from the dusky and Tyler’s toadlets that sport heavily speckled or dark bellies.
Its distribution stretches from south-east Queensland through eastern New South Wales to north-eastern Victoria.
