• A water buffalo's horns can span up to 1 metre from tip to tip—wider than a human is tall—and curve backwards in a perfect crescent. Those horns aren't just ornamental: they're packed with blood vessels that act as a radiator, dumping heat into the air so the animal doesn't overheat in tropical wetlands. In the dry season, you'll see them stand in water for up to 10 hours a day, but the horns keep working, shedding warmth even when submerged.
• Water buffalo can hold their breath and dive 7 metres underwater to graze on aquatic plants—a hunting technique more commonly seen in manatees than cattle.
