• The brown greater galago is a nocturnal primate and the biggest member of the galago family. Adults measure 26 to 47 cm in head-and-body length and have tails from 29 to 55 cm, weighing between 0.5 and 2 kg, which makes them noticeably larger than their relatives. Males grow for about 84.5 days longer than females, giving them roughly 16 % more body mass. This size advantage is reflected in their robust build and thickened skin pads that aid gripping branches.
• At night the brown greater galago navigates the forest canopy by moving on all fours, climbing, walking or running along branches rather than leaping. It travels quadrupedally through trees and bush, and only makes short jumps when a gap forces it to.
