• The ring-legged earwig gets its name from the pale brown legs that bear a dark band around the middle of the femur, or sometimes the tibia. Adults are dark brown overall and range from 10 mm to 25 mm in length, making the band a striking contrast on a relatively small insect. Unlike many earwigs, this species is wingless, and the females are noticeably larger than the males, adding to its distinctive appearance.
