• An Indian fox weighs less than a house cat — about 1.5 kg — yet hunts across open grasslands where predators twice its size also roam. It survives by hunting at night when larger carnivores sleep, pinpointing insects and rodents in total darkness using ears so sensitive they can hear a beetle moving under leaf litter from 10 metres away. This tiny fox is so successful it's one of the few carnivores that thrives in India's most crowded agricultural zones, sharing space with villages and farms.
