• The black-tailed marmoset lives farther south than any other Mico, with most of its range outside the Amazon. Its distribution stretches from the south-central Amazon in Brazil, through the Pantanal and eastern Bolivia, and reaches the Chaco in far northern Paraguay. This makes it the only Mico species whose core area lies largely beyond the Amazon basin, confirming its status as the southernmost member of the genus.
