• A silvery marmoset weighs 300 grams—less than a can of soup—yet it can leap 5 metres horizontally through the canopy, a distance 17 times its own body length. For comparison, a human would need to jump the length of a school bus. This explosive power comes from legs that are pure muscle: no excess weight, just springs coiled in fur.
• These marmosets have fingers tipped with claws instead of nails, making them the only primates that can cling to vertical tree trunks like woodpeckers. They gouge through bark to reach gum and insects hidden inside, carving their own food source from trees. This diet strategy—and the anatomy to exploit it—separates them from every other monkey and ape on Earth.
