Fascinating facts about the Schreibers' Many-fingered Teiid

A lizard named after Austrian naturalist Carl Franz Anton Ritter von Schreibers shows how scientists sometimes get immortalized in species names.
This tiny reptile lives across five South American countries, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, showing a surprisingly broad range for such a small animal.
It can be found in four very different habitats: forest, savanna, shrubland, and grassland, proving it can thrive from leafy canopies to open plains.
Two recognized subspecies exist, one described by Griffin in 1917 and the original described by Wiegmann in 1834, highlighting over a century of taxonomic study.
