• A Kirk's dik-dik weighs 3.3 kg — roughly the same as a litre of milk — making it one of Africa's tiniest antelopes. A creature small enough to hold in both hands will stand its ground against animals three times its weight, revealing that survival in the African scrub has little to do with size and everything to do with nerve.
• These antelopes are monogamous for life, an extreme rarity among hoofed mammals.
