• A male Anyphaena accentuata produces a sound so high-pitched that human ears can barely detect it—around 10–20 kHz, well into ultrasonic territory. He vibrates his entire body against leaves like a tuning fork to broadcast his presence to females. This is one of the few spiders on Earth that uses sound as a primary courtship signal, a strategy usually reserved for insects and birds.
• Unlike most hunting spiders that build webs or ambush prey, this species is a nomadic stalker that hunts on the wing—literally chasing flies through the air. With forward-facing eyes and binocular vision rare among spiders, it tracks movement with almost mammalian precision before pouncing mid-flight.
