• A sea slug can steal the superpower of its food. When it eats certain algae, the slug doesn't digest the chloroplasts — instead it incorporates them into its own cells and continues photosynthesizing for months. Scientists call it kleptoplasty, or cellular shoplifting. The slug becomes part plant, feeding itself sunlight long after its last meal. It's like eating a solar panel and having it stick to your skin and work.
• Some sea slugs are basically swimming poison factories. The Spanish dancer, a bright red nudibranch found across the Indo-Pacific, doesn't make its own toxins — it eats sea pens and stores their venom in its own tissues. When threatened, it swells up and waves its body like a flamenco skirt, advertising its toxicity to predators. The colour itself is a warning sign written in biology.
• A sea slug's penis can detach and crawl away. In some hermaphroditic species, after mating, the male organ simply breaks off and wanders across the seafloor on its own, regenerating over time.
