- At nearly a meter long, the Gambian pouched rat stretches to about 0.9 m (3 ft) from nose to tail tip, with the tail alone making up half that length. It typically weighs between 1.0 and 1.4 kg (2.2 and 3.1 lb), though some individuals reach up to 1.47 kg.
