Chalcorana Labialis

Fascinating facts about the Chalcorana Labialis

• Adult males measure 37–48 mm and adult females 44–71 mm in snout-vent length.
• Molecular work has already split the known population into three genetic lineages living side-by-side, and one lineage doesn’t match the classic Chalcorana labialis DNA at all, suggesting a hidden species lurking in the same streams.
• The fingers have well-developed discs but no webbing, while the toes have extensive webbing.
• The dorsum varies from dark green to pale yellow, with or without brown spots, and the upper lip is creamy yellow or white.
• As of April 2019, this species has not been assessed for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
