• A female tiger spider weighs 400 times more than her mate — he's the size of a sesame seed, she's a thumb. When he climbs her web to mate, he's risking his life; some females eat him mid-copulation. He has one shot to pass on his genes before becoming her next meal, which may explain why males are so tiny: the smaller you are, the faster you can dodge and flee.
