• The Pocahontas female form shows smaller glassy spots and a single spot near the forewing costa, setting it apart from the normal female. The species therefore has two distinct female morphs, the typical form and the Pocahontas form. While the normal female lacks these reduced markings, the Pocahontas variant displays the characteristic reduced glassy spots on the upper side of its wings.
• Male Hobomok skippers bear predominantly orange upper wings framed by dark brown margins, a colour pattern that is especially vivid on the dorsal side.
