Its bulbous abdomen (which gives it the 'globetail' name) contains fat reserves that fuel these explosive bursts, and its compound eyes track movement 250 times per second, quadruple the human refresh rate.
• The common globetail's eyes are wired backwards. Light hits them at the rear first, bouncing through the photoreceptor cells before triggering nerve signals — the opposite of how human eyes work.
